ANDREWS MOBILE TOWBARS
Kent's No. 1 for Towbar Supply and Fitting
Fixed Flange Type
The most commonly used type of towbar in the U.K is the Fixed Flange Towbar, where the towball is bolted to the towbar with two (sometimes four) 24mm bolts. The towball is normally bolted to the neck which fits to the underside of the vehicle.
This type of towbar can interfere with reverse sensors where fitted, due to it size and shape, and could be considered more unsightly compared to other designs.
The height of the towball can be adjusted with an adapter plate, and a bumper protector can be fitted between the towball and neck. An ALKO style towball can be fitted to make it compatible with caravan ALKO stabilizer systems.
This is the most versatile design of towbar because it can be used with tow ball mounted accessories i.e. cycle carriers, bumper protectors & all types of stabilisers, all mounted between the tow bar & ball. However, the Fixed Flange type of towbar is non-removable.
Pros:
1. Compatible with a large number of vehicles.
2. Allows for a choice of towballs.
3. The height of the towbar can be altered using drop plates.
4. Economical, they are the cheapest type of towbar.
Cons:
1. Both the towbar and electrics can be seen when looking at the vehicle.
2. Different types of towball can be expensive.
